Garden Rooms & Summer Houses

We are continuing to experience a greater demand for timber buildings which extend 'living space' into the garden. Whether this is to allow a greater enjoyment of your garden, to provide additional space for visitors or even space for a home office. Our customers are benefiting from the experience and quality Apex Timber Buildings have achieved in over 30 years of construction and installation.

Specifications

We only use graded imported red / white wood. All our timber is selected prior to use, minimising shakes and knots

Framework

We use either 50x38mm or 75x50mm eased edge and PSE (Planed sides and edge) timber.

Joists are set equally on all walls ensuring they don't exceed 600mm centres for greater strength.

External Cladding

We use a sturdy tongue and grooved boarding, shown below. Available in 100x19mm, 100x25mm and 150x25mm.

Floors

All buildings in this section include 25x125mm or 25x150mm tongue and grove flooring, floor joist centres do not exceed 400mm resulting in a very sturdy floor.

External Finish

We finish our external timber with Cuprinol Decorative or Cuprinol Shades in a range of attractive fade resistant finishes, it has excellent all weather protection and is harmless to both pets and plant life.

We can use alternative finishes upon request.

Doors & Windows

A choice of door and window designs are available, and vary according to taste and budget. Many of our Summerhouse doors and windows are built ‘in house’. But for Garden and Leisure Rooms, where perhaps a wider choice is required, doors and windows are often bought from a choice of leading manufacturers.

All Summerhouse windows are glazed as standard in 4mm float glass with toughened glass available as an option.

Garden rooms and Leisure rooms are glazed as standard in 4mm toughened glass with double glazing available as an option.

Furniture and fixings

All nails screws and fixings are Galvanised to prevent rust. We use a range of different door furniture dependent on the particular building. Galvanised T-hinges, brass butt hinges, quality rim-dead locks and 5 lever mortice locks. All are supplied with either brass door handles or wood effect door knobs

Roofing

You can choose between either an Apex or Pent roof construction, (All Apex designs are constructed using 'A' frame trusses for maximum strength).

Our roofs are clad using PTGV boards and finished in either Felt or attractive Asphalt High Density Shingles which have a 25 year life expectancy.

Guttering can also be fitted ask for details.

Lining and Insulation

This is an optional extra available with every ‘Apex Timber Building’ If you are looking for a room you can use comfortably throughout our British winter then you may want to consider having your building insulated.

Self extinguishing polystyrene sheets are used to insulate your building in both 25 and 50mm thickness. Internal wall covering is available in a choice of 6mm WBP ply board or kiln dried Tongue and groove boarding. Contact us for further details.
